Diane & Tileya

When speaking with Little Sister Tileya about her life, it seemed like the Big Brothers Big Sisters program was a perfect fit.  "My mom heard about it and thought it would be a good idea.  With three kids, she has a hectic schedule."

Tileya enrolled and quickly settled into her friendship with Diane.  "It's so much fun just hanging out.  At first, my mom and I thought it might be better for me to have someone younger, around eighteen or nineteen.  Sometimes people who are a little older treat young people differently, but that's not how it is at all.  We have normal conversations and a real relationship."

Diane cannot say enough positive things about her Little Sister.  "I love her personality, great spirit, and sense of humor.  She asks so many great questions, trying to figure out different things about life.

So what do they do for fun?  Both are big aficionados when it comes to fashion and shopping, so mall trips are always a good start.  They've done movies, activities at Diane's college, and have gone to some of the Big Brothers Big Sisters events.  In fact, one of their favorite memories was the Big Brothers Big Sisters holiday party.  They were literally introduced in December 2006 on the day of the holiday party.  Since they were both excited to get the ball rolling on their relationship, deciding to accept the invite was a no-brainer.  Ever since that trip through Bright Nights, these two have been inseparable.

To celebrate the culmination of their first year, they decided to sign up for the 2007 holiday party, and they had a blast.
