Donor Spotlight: Horace Moses Trust / Bank of America
Thea Katsounakis, VP, Philanthropic Relationship Manager, Bank of America, N.A.
Horace A. Moses Charitable Foundation, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee
The Horace A. Moses trust was established in 1923 by Mr. Horace A. Moses, a resident of Western Massachusetts. Mr. Moses opened the Mittineague Paper Mill in West Springfield in 1892 and also served as president of Strathmore Paper Co., established in 1899. A co-founder of Junior Achievement, Mr. Moses established his trust to support and promote quality educational, human services, and health care programming for underserved populations.
Thea Katsounakis, manager of the Horace A. Moses trust, shares Mr. Moses’ commitment to education for all. She is proud to serve on a number of scholarship committees and reviews the applications of students who could not attend college without scholarship assistance. She believes that hard work and good grades should lead to the opportunity to achieve their dreams.
Thea, a regular contributor to BBBSHC’s clothing donation program, sees the connection between mentoring and academic achievement: “Given Mr. Moses’ support during his lifetime for organizations that benefited children and youth, we believe this grant strongly fits with the mission of the Moses Charitable Foundation.”
