School-Based Programs

Many of our Bigs and Littles connect each week in school-based programs, either at lunch or after school.
Lunch Buddies
Bigs and Littles meet once a week in school to talk and have fun. It’s not about being a tutor. It’s about being a friend. Lunch Buddies commit to hanging out with their Little one day a week during the child’s lunch time. For as a little as 30 minutes a week, you can truly make an impact on a child’s life.
Lunch Buddy programs currently take place at the following schools:
McMahon Elementary School
75 Kane Road, Holyoke
Pottenger Elementary School
1435 Carew Street, Springfield
Homer Street School
43 Homer Street, Springfield
After-School Mentors
In the after-school program, Bigs and Littles meet at the child’s school in the afternoon for about 2 hours each week. Mentors hang out with their mentee and play games, do crafts, and spend some time on homework together. The After-School programs are offered at these sites:
American International College
1000 State Street, Springfield
Lincoln Elementary School
732 Chestnut Street, Springfield
Westfield South Middle School
30 West Silver Street, Westfield*
*This program primarily recruits student mentors from the Westfield High Schools
