BBBS Program Offerings
Mentoring opportunities are available in three different programs. Each gives you a chance to be connected with a Little. And each helps to provide a child with the benefits of mentoring—benefits like better school attendance, reduced drug use and under-age drinking, and higher self esteem. Mentoring works, and it starts with you!
- Community-Based Mentoring: For a few hours every week, Bigs and Littles meet in their community to share fun activities, stories, and a little bit of themselves. Our Littles are between 7 and 14 and live throughout Hampden County, South Hadley, and Granby. They all want and need to connect with a Big.
- Lunch Buddies: Bigs and Littles meet once a week in school to talk and have fun. It’s not about being a tutor. It’s about being a friend. Lunch Buddies commit to hanging out with their Little one day a week during the child’s lunch time. For as a little as 30 minutes a week, you can truly make an impact on a child’s life.
- After-School Mentors: In the after-school program, Bigs and Littles meet at the child’s school in the afternoon for about 2 hours each week. Mentors hang out with their mentee and play games, do crafts, and spend some time on homework together. It’s a great way to spend the afternoon, and it’s as simple as once a week for two hours!
